Welcome to El Gallego, a charming restaurant nestled in the heart of Alhama de Granada at Pl. Constitucion, 31. This delightful spot has quickly become a local favorite, known for its inviting atmosphere, excellent tapas, and friendly service. With a keen focus on quality and flavor, El Gallego captures the essence of Spanish dining, making it a must-visit for both locals and tourists alike.
As I stepped into El Gallego, I was greeted by the warm smiles of the hosts, reflecting the welcoming spirit that customers rave about. The moment you take a seat, you can sense the vibrancy of the place, described by patrons like Suzanne Smith as a “heartbeat of the local residents.” This connection with the community is palpable, and it adds a unique flavor to every dish served.
The menu boasts a variety of tapas and raciones that showcase the rich culinary traditions of Spain. One standout is the exquisite fish tapas, which have received high praises from customers. Miguel Galrinho notes the “good quality and price,” emphasizing the restaurant’s commitment to delivering value without compromising on taste. Additionally, the selection of drinks, including the coveted Estrella 1906 on draft, makes El Gallego a go-to destination for anyone looking to unwind with a cold beer or a glass of exquisitely chosen vino tinto.
However, it’s not just the food and drink that make El Gallego special. As Simon Trickett mentions, while service may be a bit slow during peak times, the overall experience is well-worth the wait. The blend of delicious food, reasonable prices, and a relaxed atmosphere creates a space where guests can indulge and enjoy the moment.
In conclusion, El Gallego stands out as an exceptional dining experience that captures the essence of Alhama de Granada. It combines fantastic food, friendly service, and a welcoming environment, making it one of the best places to eat and drink in town. Whether you're a local resident or just passing through, El Gallego is a culinary gem that should not be missed.

Decent food. Service bit slow when I was there but I hit it at a busy time. Nice vino tinto by the glass, better than normal although not the largest measure !

Great place, great food, great hosts, and the only bar in Alhama that serves Estrella 1906 on draft, who could ask for more ! One of the best Alhama has to offer.

Cannot rate this place enough. Great fish Tapas and Raciones; owner's are friendly and it is generally an all round top review local bar. It seems to be a bar which is the heartbeat of the local residents too. One of our regular venues as newish local residents.
